Disclaimer: This example follows along with our Revenue Realm series. We may make references to other videos and storyline aspects.
Before we get started, be sure to complete the following steps:
- Go to the managed package settings for the Salesforce CPQ package.
- Check the box to allow multiple orders.
- If you don’t see the order management box, it’s possible that you haven’t enabled advanced order management. In that case, please contact Salesforce for further assistance with this step.

In this example, we will look at quotes with several different backpack bundles. Using quote groups is great for various situations, and we will use it for splitting up our order generation today. We will make groupings based on which supplier we will use.
Our local supplier can only take smaller orders, and they give us advanced notice of when they are available. So for the larger orders, we will send those to our druid friends for fulfillment.
Because the amount the local supplier can handle may vary, we are making the groupings manually based on what we know the local supplier can handle today using our work order management system. So the smaller backpacks will be sent to the local supplier (Group 1), and the extra-large warrior backpacks will be sent to our druid friends for fulfillment (Group 2).
The dependent potions (products) will be placed with their backpack bundle. You can have as many groups as you need – in this example, we have two groups.
The order by group checkbox will make orders that will be split by groupings you have assigned to the items. The quote must be marked primary and status is approved.
By utilizing order management, when you click the “ordered” checkbox and select save, the system will generate two separate orders – Order 1 (Group 1) to be fulfilled by our local supplier and Order 2 (Group 2) to be fulfilled by our druid friends.
