DWMC 2025 Visual Installation Guide – A Free Contract Generation Helper for Salesforce

Installing DWMC from Salesforce AppExchange

1. Access the Salesforce AppExchange page for “Dude, Where’s My Contract” and click “Get It Now” to start the DWMC installation process.

2. Once clicked, a “Where do you want to install this package?” prompt will appear. Choose the correct Salesforce account associated with the organization you’d like to see DWMC in; then, click “Install in Production.”

A cropped portion of the page after clicking Get It Now which shows verifying the correct Connected Salesforce Accounts via highlight, and, if correct, shows to click "Install in Production" afterward

3. A “Confirm Installation Details” prompt will appear. Verify that the package and profile information is correct (the most current version of DWMC is Version 1.3.0). Once you’ve filled the checkbox that you’ve read and agreed to the terms and conditions, as well as decided whether to allow us to send you promotional material, click “Confirm and Install.”

The next page after clicking "Install in Production" which has clickable text boxes, the first identifying if you've read and agree to the Terms and Conditions (a red asterisk denoting required acknowledgment to continue), and the second which has the option for promotional messaging. Both are highlighted, although the second option. The button "Confirm and Install" is highlighted to show the next step.

4. Regardless of whether you’re already logged in to Salesforce, the Salesforce login page will appear. Log in as normal unless there are special circumstances as stated below.

If you are logged in to multiple Salesforce accounts and want to install DWMC into a specific organization:

Due to how Salesforce cookies work, it may be necessary to change the URL to the target Salesforce organization when logged in to multiple organizations at once. “login.salesforce.com” doesn’t specify the “active” organization (likely the most recent logged) so you may get authentication errors if the URL isn’t changed.

Cropped image showing the Salesforce login page which always appears after clicking "Confirm and Install" regardless of what organizations you are currently logged into. This is identified by the words "packaging" and "installPackage." The text "login.salesforce.com" is highlighted in the URL bar of the browser. If dealing with multiple log-in accounts (i.e. multiple cookies), the highlighted portion may not be the correct account.

To do this, go into the home screen of the target organization for DWMC in another tab and highlight the indicated portion of the org URL (in this example, “dwmc-dev-ed” is our target organization). Right click and copy the highlighted portion.

Shows the browser view of the correct organization homepage that DWMC will be installed into. The portion of the URL that is highlighted, from "https" to ".com" must be copied onto the clipboard.

Go back to the tab with the package login (as denoted by “packaging” and “installPackage” in the url), then highlight the indicated portion of the login URL. Right click on the highlight and paste the previously copied portion of the org URL. Press enter.

Image shows the log in page browser previously described with "https://login.salesforce.com/" highlight in the URL portion.
The same login page as previous images. The URL of the browser login page now has the specific organization's URL pasted over the highlighted "https://login.salesforce.com/"

If already logged into the target organization, it should move forward to the “Install Dude, Where’s My Contract” prompt. If not, then log in as normal.

5. An “Install Dude, Where’s My Contract” prompt will appear in which you have the ability to select which Users will be able to access DWMC. In this example, we’ll select “Install for All Users.” Click the “Install” button to continue.

After a successful login attempt, the installation page will appear, shown by the green and white down arrow and the header "Install Dude, Where's My Contract". The creator of the app appears in the subheader. There are three options for specified users, starting with: 1) Install for Admins Only, 2) Install for All Users, and 3) Install for Specific Profiles... Two buttons sit below the options: the first, "Install" is highlighted to continue the process, the second is "Cancel."

If you’d like to change this selection, this can be done through the permission sets as stated by this banner in Installed Packages > Manage Licenses.

A banner message that shows within the Permissions page of Salesforce regarding the DWMC package. As noted previously, these permissions can be changed after installation.

A loading circle will pop up to show installation progress.

This image shows the same installation page, only after "Install" was clicked. The user options and two buttons are replaced by a loading circle with the message "Installing and granting access to [chosen specified user(s)]." In this example, the "all Users" option was chosen.

6. Once you receive the “Installation Complete!” message, hit “Done.” Move on to Step 7 if you don’t need to verify your installation.

The same installation page; however, the loading circle and "Installing" message is replaced by a white "i" within a blue circle and the button "Done" which is highlighted to show the next step.

To verify your installation, check “Installed Packages.”

Salesforce's Installed Packages page in the Setup is shown with two Installed Packages, the first is Salesforce CPQ and the second is Dude, Where's My Contract. Users can be changed through the Manage Licenses portion. This guide will specify how to reach this page.

If you’re unfamiliar of where the Installed Packages page may be, first, log in to the target Salesforce organization. In the Salesforce CPQ homepage, click the gear icon with the lightning symbol on the top right. Click Setup.

This shows the first step in reaching the Installed Packages page. This is a cropped portion of the Salesforce CPQ homepage, with the Setup Menu (accessed by clicking the Gear with a lightning bolt in the center) opened. Setup is highlighted, beside a teal Gear with a lightning bolt in the center, showing what to select to continue.

In the Setup page, type “pa” in the Quick Find search bar in the top right of the screen, which should bring up Installed Packages.

After clicking the Setup (teal gear with lightning bolt) option, the Setup page will open showing a search bar on the upper left of the screen. Typing "pa" will show the Installed Packages option, highlighted for selection.

After verifying that DWMC is installed, to go back to the Salesforce CPQ homepage click the App Launcher (9 dots); then, click Salesforce CPQ.

Access to the DWMC app starts within Salesforce CPQ; with navigation starting at the App Launcher as shown by the 9 multicolored dots above the Quick Find search bar (highlighted for selection)
A dropdown menu will appear after selecting the App Launcher which conveniently has Salesforce CPQ as an option below Apps.

Adding DWMC to Salesforce CPQ

7. To utilize DWMC, it must be added onto Opportunity Records. Start by clicking on the Opportunities tab in Salesforce CPQ.

The Salesforce CPQ homepage is shown with the Opportunities tab highlighted to show the next step in accessing DWMC

8. Under Opportunities, find “Recently Viewed,” click it, then click “All Opportunities” in the dropdown menu.

The Opportunities Tab, once opened, shows an orange square with a crown in the center beside the words Opportunities and Recently Viewed next to a down-turned arrow. Clicking the arrow opens a dropdown menu with a search bar. The option, All Opportunities, which is highlighted to be selected, is shown to be in Recent List Views; however, if it isn't visible in any category, it must be searched for.

9. Under “All Opportunities,” click any Opportunity Name (in this example, we’ll be using “Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator”). Changes on any Opportunity page will be reflected across every Opportunity Record.

The All Opportunities list is shown within Salesforce CPQ, filled with example Opportunities. In this instance, the Opportunity named "Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator" is highlighted to be chosen; however, any of the opportunities listed can be selected to enable app view.

10. Once on the selected Opportunity’s page, click the gear icon with the lightning symbol on the top right.

11. In the Setup Menu, click on Edit Page to enter the Lightning App Builder for Opportunity Record Pages.

The setup menu is shown with the "Edit Page" option highlighted for selection

12. Next, find “Dude, Where’s My Contract?” in the Components column on the left side of the builder under “Custom – Managed”.

Editing page for Opportunity Records. Apps can be added from the Components list on the right side of the page to be viewed by users. Any changes made with the Opportunity Record shown applies to all records.

You can utilize the search bar in the Components field by typing “du” if you have difficulty with finding it through scrolling. Note: do not search for DWMC as it will yield no results.

Opportunity Record Page editor. This image shows the search alternative versus manually scrolling down the components list to find DWMC. In the Components field, within the Search bar, the letters "du" are typed out, which highlights DWMC within the list.

13. Click on “Dude, Where’s My Contract?”, hold, and drag it to your desired position on the Opportunity Record.

The Opportunity Record Page preview is cropped from the Lightning App Builder edit screen. An arrow shows how DWMC was click-hold-dragged from the Components list into the Opportunity Record. The DWMC app in this example will be positioned above the Quotes field on the page.

In this example, we’ve decided to add DWMC above the Related Lists box that includes Quotes, Products, etc.

What DWMC looks like after being dragged and dropped above the Quote section of the "Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator" opportunity in the Page Editor. Each requirement presented is accompanied by a red X, signifying the requirement is unmet.

14. Click on the Save button on the upper right to apply its placement.

After dragging and dropping onto the desired location within the Opportunity Record Page editor, DWMC can now be applied through the Save button highlighted in the image, located below the Help button at the top right of the screen.

15. Press the Back button to return to the Opportunity page.

16. Congratulations! “Dude, Where’s My Contract” has been successfully installed and configured!

DWMC Usage Examples

Note that on the previous image, for the Opportunity page “Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator”, every requirement for contract generation is a red X. This means a contract will not generate.

Let’s look at a different Opportunity: “Laptop for Front Office”. We can see that this Opportunity has red Xs in all but the field “Has Primary Quote.” This can be easily verified by looking below the DWMC app, in the Quotes section. Q-00000 is shown to have a checkmark in the box for the field marked Primary.

Another Opportunity titled "Laptop for Front Office" which shows that "Dude, Where's My Contract?" populates every Opportunity page. The component shows one green checkmark next to "Has Primary Quote" which is evidenced below within the Quote box, the header showing "Quotes (1)" and the single quote titled Q-00000.

In this Opportunity for “Copy machine for main office”, DWMC identifies that all requirements are met except for “Quote Has End Date”. Let’s fix that! We’ll start by clicking on the Opportunity’s Quote, Q-00025.

Another Opportunity page, which, unlike "Laptop for Front Office" or "Burlington Textiles Weaving Plant Generator", has only one singular requirement on the "Dude, Where's My Contract?" component that hasn't been met. This requirement has been highlighted alongside a highlighted arrow pointing to Q-00025 in the Quotes section, denoting what to click to fix this unmet prerequisite.

As we can see on Q-00025, under Contract Information, the End Date for the Quote is empty. Clicking on the pencil icon or clicking on Edit above will allow us to change that.

The Quote page for Q-00025 which shows multiple fields related to the "Copy machine for main office" Opportunity. Under Contact Information, the End Date, which is highlighted, is shown to be blank. This value must be satisfied to complete the requirements that allow for contract generation. The pencil icon within the field is also highlighted, the pressing of which allows for editing to populate the field.

Once we fill the field with a viable date, we’ll click Save. Wait for it to finish saving our new End Date.

With the selection of either Edit or the clicking of the pencil icon across any field, Quote "Q-00025" goes into editing mode, allowing for an end date to be filled in under the End Date field. The Save button has been highlighted to denote the next step.
The Quote page darkens and shows a loading circle after hitting the Save button

Now if you look at DWMC, every requirement has a green checkmark which means that we’re now ready to successfully generate a contract!

The example Opportunity with the End Date now filled in (not shown in this image). This is reflected on the highlighted checkmarks (i.e. no red Xs) on the "Dude, Where's My Contract?" widget. A contract can then be generated successfully.
